TOMs_Inocentes_2024j

In the past RCNC has organised a TOMs Fancy Dress Sail on December 28th, the day that Spain celebrates the Día de los Santos Inocentes (Day of the Holy Innocents). It is the Spanish version of April Fool’s Day, when people play pranks and jokes throughout the day. The format is that crews turn up in some kind of fancy dress (una disfraz en español), and we run three simple races around the marks. We planned to run a similar event this year. Unfortunately, it was not well supported by our members, and three of our crew dropped out at the last moment, forcing us to sail with only two TOMs, and seven crew. However, we still had a great time, and managed to sail one race out to the fish farm and back, which was won by the TOM crewed by Connie Forster, Saskia Dormaar, John Mernaugh, and Hugh Epsom. The other TOM was crewed by Karen Gardner, Lea Bannard, and John Mackney. The CBYA kindly funded lunch for the crews after the event at Restaurante Dracula.
