CBYA members enjoyed a spectacular evening on Sunday 24th June – the last night of the Fiesta of San Juan (the patron saint of Jávea) which is El Día de Sant Joan. This is the most important fiesta in the local calendar, when the whole town joins in the festivities. It lasts for two weeks.
We met at Bar la Cova in Jávea old town to enjoy a glass or two whilst watching the parades, and be pelted with sweets and toys by the traditionally-dressed children on the floats… and later sat down for a tapas menu at Restaurante El Convent , where we watched the smaller (children’s) foguera being burnt in the Plaza del Convento.
The fireworks were impressive, as was the burning of the large foguera. See video below.
Many thanks to our Social team ladies, Julie and Sabine, who organised this CBYA event during the absence of Peter English, the CBYA Social Secretary.
Roll on San Juan 2019!
