Charter Day Sail – 6th November 2023.

The boat chartered was a Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 44.

The day started well. We met at 10am at Bar Marla Vita, on the wall at Marina de Dénia, where we had a good view of the wind and sea condition. The crew was Pedro Pastor, Mitch Yount, Frank Newman, Andrew and Karen Metcalfe, Roy Giggins and Isabel Gonalez . All had plenty of varied sailing experience.

A beautiful sunny day, with winds forecast from the north , although dropping in the afternoon. It was perfect for a day out on the water. The highlight of the day was spotting a large pod of dolphins which seemed happy to show us the way.

Initially we headed NE, enjoying a very good sail, SOG of about 6-7 knots. Later to the East and then South, averaging 6-7 knots most of the time. As is the norm, we had lunch on the move, with each of the crew taking a good turn on the helm.

Returning to the marina berth proved rather testing! As the wind was at its strongest of the day, blowing over 16 knots from the south, and making the 150 metre reverse into our slot rather challenging!!

After a great day sailing, we rounded it off with a well-earned beer (wine for Helen).

The next event is scheduled for the 4th December. Look for the event or wait for the newsletter. If you want to sail, you need to be quick as tickets sell out fast
