Strong Winds and Big Seas for Dinghy Day

Dinghy Day on Wednesday 16th November saw strong winds, dramatic skies, and choppy waves.

It was hard to sail out from, and back to, the shore due the waves which were much stronger than the wind in our part of the bay.

At times the sea looked so serene, with a beautiful light on the Peñón de Ifach: we could just hear the sound of the waves rolling in, then suddenly strong gusts of wind followed from all directions!

A small group of more experienced CBYA dinghy sailors met and rigged a Laser, a 420,  the 470 and the safety boat, – it was not suitable weather in which to take beginners out.

A challenging, but safely managed, Dinghy Day!

Hopefully we will see you all on Wednesday 23rd November.

Sounds a challenging day on the water for the Dinghy sailors.
Well done all those that tackled it!
Must say I prefer island hopping in a comfortable cruiser! Tho I have survived several storms over the years.
