The CBYA Committee strongly recommends that, as from 1st January 2021, all sailing members should purchase their own insurance which will cover them for any CBYA sailing activities. This includes dinghy and Hobie Cat sailors, as well as those that join the monthly CBYA day charters and annual CBYA charter holiday trips.

The SomVela Licencia Federativa, Deportista or Carnet Deportivo, depending on whether they race or not, provides this cover, and sailing members who sail the TOMs all have to have this insurance, as do all the TOMs skippers. Third Party Liability

• Civil Liability Operation € 1,500,000

• Sublimit per victim € 150,000

• Excess per claim 150 €

Medical Cover

Hospital and ambulance costs for any accident whilst sailing.

Those that do not regularly sail, should check their own travel insurance policies to ensure that they cover sailing activities.

After the beginning of next year, CBYA members will be requested to sign a waiver, prior to participating in a CBYA sailing activity, if they do not have the necessary insurance cover.
