All CBYA sailors must have insurance cover when sailing on CBYA organised sailing activities i.e. Dinghies, Catamarans, TOMs, Platús and Day Charters. This is how you are covered:

• • If you sail on the TOMs from RCNC, or the Platús from CN Altea, you need to have insurance from SomVela (a Licencia Carnet Deportivo).
  • If you race in a TOMs regatta, or in the 5-Clubs, you need a Licencia Deportista.
  • Those that ONLY sail with a Club Náutico sea school, such as the RCN Calpe or CN Altea sea schools, need only buy the sea school’s one time, or annual, sailing school license.
  • Dinghy sailors are covered under an insurance policy that the CBYA has taken out with Ailianz Insurance.
  • Catamaran sailors are covered under the insurance policy provided by Las Antipodas Water Sports.
  • Day Charter sailors are covered under the insurance provided by the yacht charter company.
  • Members who sail on vessels chartered for sailing holidays are covered if they have SomVela insurance, and inform the FVCV in advance. 

1. 1. To buy insurance from SomVela, you need to visit the SomVela Site: https://www.fvcv.es/ and click Licencias>Solicitar Licencia Individual and follow the instructions. If you have previously had a license, log into the SomVela site (or app) and follow the instructions to renew it.
   2. To buy insurance from one of the Club Náutico Sea Schools, visit the office at the respective Club Náutico.

The CBYA recommends all members that sail recreationally with the CBYA buy a SomVela licenses from the FVCV. Note, this covers you against personal injury only. It does not insure you against material damage or loss or damage to  third parties, You should therefore have your own personal liability insurance.

• 1. Make sure you review our summary sheet and select the correct insurance type
  2. Under club, it is very important that you enter “RCN CALPE“
  3. Click ENVIAR and then CONFIRMAR Y PAGAR to purchase your license

Tips:

• • If you buy a Deportista license, and purchase a Carnet Deportivo license as well (or vice-versa), you will only be charged the supplement.
  • If you  download the SomVela App on your smartphone, you will find your purchased licenses in the App  (you can also renew your license via the App in subsequent years)
