INTRODUCING CARLOS MONTES (trips, training, races)

Carlos has recently joined the CBYA and would like to invite you to join him on his S/Y TANIT – a 35.1 ft Beneteau Oceanis based in Altea. Carlos is a qualified sailing instructor,  and can provide training for the Spanish Patron de Embarcacion de Recreo’(PER) and Licencia de Navegacion, as well as bespoke training if you would simply like to improve your sailing skills. He has a proven track record, and his pupils comment on his calm and competent instruction.

James Heather: ‘I have sailed with Carlos on TANIT on many occasions and each one has been a positive learning experience. I have particularly enjoyed facing some new challenges with the support of a calm and knowledgeable instructor. Carlos provides guidance and a safe environment to learn through hands-on experience. Everyone always leaves TANIT with a smile on their face.’

TANIT regularly sails to the Balearics and shorter trips such as Tabarca and Columbretes Islands, as well as day sails around Altea Bay or to Moraira or La Vila Joyosa. Plans are in place for a trip to Morocco in 2022 via Sevilla, Gibraltar and out into the Atlantic along the North African coast (and back!).

Carlos already hosts a team of CBYA members as crew for the 5 Clubs and other Costa Blanca / Balearics races such as the Pata Negra and Ruta de la Sal (to Ibiza and back at Easter 2022).

Monique Neyzen: ‘Our goal sailing TANIT  in the 5 Clubs Regattas is to improve every time we sail together. We don’t have to be the fastest boat, or the most experienced team, our team has just started sailing together and there is room for improvement. But we enjoy the learning process so much – getting to know the boat, learning Spanish sailing terms, sharing knowledge, and improving sailing skills. It’s great fun to sail TANIT , and that is what sailing with Carlos is all about.’

So whether you are interested in chartering TANIT yourself, or joining in organised trips or races; or if you would like to improve your sailing skills and/or achieve Spanish qualifications,……contact Carlos!
