OLD 420 LIVES AGAIN IN HEAVY WAVES
The old 420, resurrected with a new mast and rigging (and with a fantastic effort by the dinghy team) finally put to sea after being out of action for nearly 3 months. The surf was up but the 420 not! Short tacking to get out of the bay the surf hit and the boat went over. But the tubes on the mast did their job and the crew righted the dinghy and they were in and off again. The two crew arrived back hyped and buzzing and wet.
The day continued with a testing surf but everything with a sail was out and stayed mostly up. The Stern was caught by the surf too, but due to its weight and stability and though healed at the top of a wave at 80 degrees, held up. The crew on that boat too were buzzing when they got back (you can see why the Stern makes such an excellent safety boat). The last capsize was a Laser, but once again the tubes saved the boat, but had to put up quite a fight to get it up again.
After righting the Laser, the inflatable returned to shore, but in the attempt to miss the sun bathers, rounded the rock out crop and too was flipped on its side and the crew dunked in 2 ft of water. A fun and lively day I think you'll agree!
