Another great CBYA Cruiser Day Charter was had by all on 26th August, on board ‘Tricky D’.

Once again many thanks to our skipper Richard Jones.

We had seven CBYA crew members on board, they were: Peter Steenhuis, Chris Michel, Peter and Deni Muir, Jane Dye, Diane Jarvis and Jim Cooper.

We met at 10am for coffee and introductions, then boarded, and subsequently departed Denia Marina, at 11am.

At the mouth of the Marina we passed closely to the stranded ‘Balearics High Speed Ferry‘, which somehow had managed to misjudge the entrance and had run aground last week (if there are any CBYA Skippers interested, there could now be a vacancy there!!!).

The day started rather dull, with a cloudy and threatening sky, but it was very warm and there was a good, constant 18-20kt breeze, from the SE, making the sea rather choppy. The clouds gradually dispersed later.

Most crew participated with various aspects of the sailing, placing/tying fenders, taking turns helming, winching when tacking, etc.

We made and rounded Portichol Island, at approximately 13.30pm, anchoring in Barraca Bay, with many other small and larger craft, for lunch, to chill and enjoy a very pleasant refreshing swim.

Then departing Barraca Bay at 3.30pm, we managed a good sail back for most of the way, arriving in Denia for 6.30pm.

The next schedule CBYA Cruiser Day, is Monday 23rd September, if you wish to put your name down now, you can by contacting Graham Hustler, by clicking HERE.
