The Committee would like to wish all of the members of the CBYA, a Merry Christmas and a Very Happy New Year.
As we wrap up another year, let’s take a look back together at some of the highlights from the past twelve months: On the social side, we kicked off the year with the Pig and Jig, an event we held to raise money for our charity Make-a-Smile. We followed that with social dinners at some new restaurants to the club; Maxim’s, Anissa and Oceana, as well as some old favourites like La Bodeguilla. We went to Cowes on the Isle of Wight for the ‘Round the Island‘ race event, and got together to watch the America’s Cup racing in Barcelona. We finished the year with our bumper Christmas party event.
On the sailing side, we ran some new events; the Competent Crew course and the RYA Day Skipper theory course, and in November we ran our first TOMs Cup together with our sponsor Blevins Franks. We also ran our regular events; the TOMs, the Dinghies, the Catamarans, Day Sails out of Dénia, and 5-Clubs regatta racing.
Next year the club will have some new things to offer: An opportunity to qualify as a skipper on an RYA course, Sailing Theory workshops, and the chance to participate in the 5 Clubs regattas, and there will also be a club Cruise-in-Company Holiday to Ibiza.
From all of us on the Committee, we would like to thank you all for your continued support for the club, and to say, whatever you’re doing this Christmas Day, please raise a glass, and drink a bumper toast to the CBYA!
Have a happy holiday and a festive New Year. We look forward to seeing you back on the water in 2025.
