In the spotlight this week are some activities by members that you might find interesting:

The Camino de Santiago Challenge. Gwendoline Holiday and her husband Glenn Ward set off on their trek to walk the Camino de Santiago route starting from Jávea – some 1200km of walking and hiking. El Encanto de Caballos. Monique Neyzen has an exhibition of her work on show. If you would like to see her work, the opening is on the 31st October at the Casa de Cultura at Plaza Juan Carlos in Alfaz de Pi

The opening of the exhibition Enchanting horses in Alfaz today at 6pm will take place in a low key way without music.

5-Clubs News: The 8th Trofeo 5-Clubs event held by Club Náutico de Altea was cancelled. Some 50 boats arrived at the start line, but after 2 hours, there was still not enough wind to start the race. The previous day the Regatta “L’Almadrave de la Matina” did go ahead, but in very challenging light airs. Some CBYA members took part in the two events including Barry McCrae, Karen Gardner, Richard Jones, John Mackney, Chris Engels, Saskia Dormaar, Connie Forster, Simon Forster, Ben Woodcock and Steve Day. The L’Almadrave de la Matina race was won by a team from Club Náutico de Altea in a Platu 25.

Events taking place this week:

  • Weekly get together on Monday 28th at Bar Cala Brisa in Javea and Bar Tropicana in Moraira/Paichi
  • Dinghy Day on Wednesday at El Portet beach, Moraira
  • Toms sail Practice at Club Náutico de Calpe on Thursday
  • TOMs Sail and Race practice at Club Náutico de Calpe on Saturday

Great! I like the concept of “In the Spotlight this week”. Fun to hear about interesting non-sailing activities some of our club members are involved in.
