Here is a roundup of the week’s CBYA news.

On Saturday, Emirates Team New Zealand won the 37th America’s Cup beating Ineos Britannia to finish the series 7-2 and take the trophy. The plan was for CBYA members to view the final race at the Kawana Bar in Javea, but the race happened at an unfortunate time, with John (the chairman) racing in the 5-Clubs and Hugh (vice chairman) recovering from a short spell in hospital. Its not known if any members attended to watch the race, but if you did, you certainly were treated to a spectacular event. If you did, let us know in the comments

Only one CBYA sponsored boat competed in the 5-Clubs event on Sunday in Moraira; Sapphire owned by John Mackney. Sapphire finished middle of the fleet in her class in extremely light and challenging conditions. Well done to all the crew: Saskia Dormaar, Bea Real, Isabella Gonzales Mac Dowell, Connie Forster, Simon Forster and Chris Engels.

Dinghy day was cancelled (again) due to extreme winds and swell across El Portet beach on Wednesday. This is the 2nd Wednesday in a row that Dinghy Day has had to be cancelled. Let’s hope for better weather this week.

Final arrangements for the monthly dinner, at Maxim’s Restaurant, were made. 31 members and guests have signed up to dine next Tuesday 22nd October. The restaurant has our booking. See you there
