We are sad to advise that Peter Hooker has passed away.

Tim Fawle provided the following words in his memory…

He was an enthusiastic member during the earlier days of the CBYA, and was an active participant with the Jubilee Sailing Trust , where he did voluntary work as a carpenter on the Tenacious, constructing some fine woodwork in the dining room.

He was also a team leader responsible for groups sailing in the JST, and sailed many miles down to the Caribbean, and to other places. Through him, a few of us in the CBYA were motivated to sail on the Tenacious in the Canary Islands during 2007. It was a life changing experience, which prompted me and others to raise funds to send Gerard McGrath on a JST voyage.

He was also a member of the Jávea Players, where he built complicated sets and organised their workshop, scenery, costumes & props store, and was an active walker with the Costa Blanca Mountain Walkers, with whom he celebrated a joint 70th birthday together with other walkers. A kind gentle and considerate man who was always willing to help out, and an absolute perfectionist in everything that he did. It was a pleasure to have known him.

Peter’s family would like to let you all know that they will be pleased to see you at Peter´s funeral at 3.30pm on Tuesday August 13th at the Denia Crematorium, and afterwards at El Cid Restaurant in Benidoleig. They will glad too see everyone who knew Peter, so please pass this message onto people who knew him.
