We are very sad to announce that one of our members, Gaby Ferenczy, lost his brave, short battle with cancer last week.
Gaby was a relatively new member of the CBYA, having joined in September 2017, after the death of his wife, Margaret. However, he was not new to sailing having in the past owned a MacGregor 26 (S/Y Magabee) moored at Dénia.
He was a stalwart supporter of CBYA day cruiser charters, attended many social events in Jávea, and joined us on the first CBYA Charter Cruise holiday in Croatia, where he proved to be excellent company. He had signed up for this year’s trip as well.
He was a great example of “living life to the full” throughout his 85 years – his birthday was a few weeks ago – and was active in many associations.
Gaby has three sons who are making funeral arrangements to enable other family members and friends to attend. The funeral will take place at 1200 hours on Friday 19th July at the Jávea Crematorium, and will be followed by tapas & drinks at Le Gourmand Restaurant.
We will miss him.
