NEW: Enjoy CBYA Hobie Cat sailing this summer every Tuesday afternoon!!

Hobie Cats are fast, responsive boats, – a real joy for sport-loving sailors. Click HERE for a taster!!!

Since we are unable to sail the CBYA dinghies at El Portet during July & August, and after the excellent Hobie Cat Day on July 3rd (click HERE for details), we decided to sail on the Cats more often. So why not come along and join us on Tuesday afternoons at Las Antipodas Watersports in Les Basetes?

Non-sailors can enjoy a drink there, and you will love  the view of the bay and the Peñón de Ifach from the Coral Beach Restaurant terrace.

*Practical information:

-Assemble at the Coral Beach Restaurant terrace at 3 pm each Tuesday during July and August. Be ready to sail at 16.00h, actual sailing from 16:30 to 18:30h.

-We need to book the Hobie Cats in advance during the busy summer months. So if you want to sail confirm by latest Sunday midday: e-mail Amanda by clicking HERE (first come – first served). If you don’t turn up, you will still have to pay. Sorry, but we will be charged for the rental whether or not we use the Cats!

-We will sail on new Hobie 17 Getaways with 3 or max 4 pax. An experienced Cat sailor will skipper, – the crew has to balance the Cat by shifting their weight and reacting quickly. If you have some Cat sailing experience you can use a harness and trapeze. The Cat may capsize (don’t worry, we’ll upright it again), but getting wet is all part of Hobie Cat sailing!

The price for the 2 hours is 25€ per person for 3 or 4 people per catamaran.

-Address: Carretera Costera Basetes Calpe-Moraira, sharp turn off at km 2,5 between Calpe/Benissa to sailing school Las Antipodas, see www.lasantipodas.com.

You can park nearby at c/Partida Bassetas, if the small parking area at the marina is full.

Changing facilities are available, but there is no shower.

-Always check our Hobie Cat Whatsapp group before setting off: last minute cancellation by Las Antipodas is possible, due to too much wind, or not enough wind. Contact Amanda to join the group.

*Security requirements:

1. sailing experience

2. physically fit enough to move around the boat quickly to balance it, and to be able to climb back on the Cat by yourself if it capsizes.

3. wear a life jacket (provided), foot protection (such as surf-shoes or diving booties), and bring a bottle of water.

Recommended: sun protection, gloves, attachment cord for hat & sunglasses (or you’ll lose them:)

Join us on Tuesdays!

Well done Amanda and Monique, a great extension to the Dinghy Section during July and August. Maybe we get a Hobie for El Portet for the winter months!!

Dinghy Section Coordinator

Would love that Bob great idea!
It would be a great continuation of the Hobie summer sailing.

Fantastic to try out the trapeze – exhilarating to ‘fly’ over the azure Mediterranean Sea – I’m hooked!

Am so looking forward!
See you tomorrow for yet another new experience – am so pleased to have joined CBYA… just wish I’d joined earlier!.
