Another Great CBYA Christmas Party!

Over fifty members, and their guests, attended the 2021 CBYA Christmas Party on Monday 13th December at the Restaurante A Bordo in the Club Náutico Jávea.

Our COVID certificates were all scanned on arrival, and we were requested to wear our masks at all times, unless eating and/or drinking.

The dinner was tasty, the service great, and the company was excellent. The Social team had done a wonderful job decorating the tables, including some very rude do-it-yourself balloons!

The traditional CBYA Xmas raffle, comprising twelve excellent prizes, raised a healthy amount for our two supported charities, the Bomberos Voluntarios and Make-a-Smile.

During the evening a special award was presented to Gillian Ashworth for (being the only entry and) winning the CBYA Cardboard Race in October this year. She successfully paddled from the launching ramp at El Portet beach to the dinghy area, and back again, without sinking, in a cardboard boat designed and built by Hugh Epsom.

Her award was an appropriate nautical tile.

Dougie Mack, of Bay Radio fame, did an excellent job in providing the disco music. Unfortunately, although dancing is permitted in a space assigned for such activity, current health regulations in the Comunidad de Valencia require all dancers to wear a facemask and respect the required minimum safety distance. This did not deter the many folks who were overcome by the urge to “have a bop”!

Apologies for the quality of the photos. It would appear the photographer had over-imbibed before taking them, but, in fact, he just needs to ask Santa for a new phone!!

Overall, a very successful evening! A BIG well done to our Social Team, Julie Benneworth and Peter English, for organising such a great event under difficult circumstances.
