Yannick Bestaven wins the Vendée Globe 2020/21 – the Virtual Sailors also did well!

Categories:

Yannick Bestaven, the 48 year old French skipper of Maître Coq IV, is the overall winner of the ninth edition of the Vendée Globe. Although he actually took the gun for third place off Les Sables d’Olonne, France at 03hrs 19mins 46 secs early this Thursday morning, because he carried a time compensation of 10 hours and 15 minutes, awarded by an international jury for his role in the search and rescue of fellow competitor Kevin Escoffier, Bestaven takes victory 2hrs 31mins 01secs ahead of Charlie Dalin and 6hrs 40mins 26secs of Louis Burton, who both finished ahead of him, and take second and third respectively.

INEOS Team UK wins the Prada Cup Round Robins!

Categories:

INEOS TEAM UK stays unbeaten after what was probably the closest race seen so far on the AC75s, with 9 lead changes throughout the nail biting race against Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli.

With that result, Sir Ben Ainslie’s team won their the fifth race in a row in the Round Robins. Upon finishing the ‘ghost race’ start successfully it took them to 6 points, enough to qualify directly to the PRADA Cup final of the 36th America’s Cup.

American Magic and Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli will compete to race against INEOS Team UK on the 2nd February. Hopefully the Americans will have repaired their AC75 in time!

Renew or Purchase Your Licensia Federativa Now!

Categories:

As previously announced, the CBYA Committee strongly recommends that, as from 1st January 2021, all sailing members should purchase their own insurance which will not only cover them for any CBYA sailing activities but sailing globally*. The Valencian Community Sailing Federation’s licence is not just for racing and the TOMs, but INCLUDES cover for Dinghy Day and Hobie Cat sailors, as well as for those that join the monthly CBYA day charters, and our annual CBYA charter holiday trips.

*Civil Liability limited to European Community. Sailing outside of Spanish waters requires a Sailing Federation endorsed certificate; a paper exercise, which is easy to obtain.

The “SomVela” (App) Licencia Federativa: Deportista (racing), Carnet Deportivo (non-racing) or Anual Escuela, provides this cover. Members who race, or sail the TOMs, MUST have to have this insurance.
