We have a CBYA Assistant Treasurer!

Categories:

I am delighted to announce that we now have an Assistant CBYA Treasurer, who has agreed to come on board and help reduce the load on our long-time Treasurer, Sue Bell.

Our Assistant Treasurer is CBYA member, Sally Clayton, and she will be supported by CBYA member, Samir Chami (an accountant) on an ad-hoc basis.

Many thanks to both Sally & Samir for stepping up to help!

Chairman

Face Masks Now Mandatory Whenever in Public Places

Categories:

The Minister of Public Health for the Comunidad de Valencia, Ana Barceló, announced last week that, due to the resurgence of COVID-19 cases, the use of face masks is now mandatory throughout the Valencian Community for people over six years old, even if the safety distance of one and a half meters can be maintained. The wearing of masks is required in all areas, except beaches, swimming pools and natural areas, and will apply to everyone except children under 6 years of age, or people with respiratory problems. Barceló clarified that surgical and hygienic ones must be used, and that those with respiratory valves are not allowed, except for work reasons. From now on it will be mandatory to wear masks at restaurant terraces when you are not eating or drinking. The maximum capacity of the terraces stays at 75%, and the maximum occupancy will be 20 people per table

Due to the COVID-19 virus many things have changed, and the organisation of the CBYA is no exception. ALL members are now required to complete a Member Update Form BEFORE they can attend any CBYA event, social, sea or land-based. The form is the same as for new membership but you select Member Update from the first drop-down menu instead of New Membership Application.

CBYA CRYSTAL JUBILEE – JULY INTERVIEW – RICHARD JONES

Categories:

You are a very active member of CBYA, so it is great to get your perspective on the club – please tell me why you joined?

I was considering buying a yacht, so I needed to speak with sea-going, like-minded people. The CBYA was the only English-speaking option at that time.

What was a memorable first experience of the CBYA?

Good turn out for last Dinghy Day before the Summer shutdown!

Categories:

Many thanks to all who came yesterday, sailed, drank, helped, and provided safety cover. We had a great day with all four boats out, which presented some interesting and amusing incidents for the assembled drinking watchers!

Starting an hour later worked, the beach and cafes were not so busy, and it was almost 7pm before we eventually left a beautiful evening at Paradise Beach.

Someone suggested we should have some social evenings whilst Dinghy Days are suspended, which I will try and organise. Dinghy Days will start again in September.

Hope to see some of you down for a social evening when I arrange it. Watch this space.
