Costa Blanca, Spain

Ken joined the CBYA in 2006, having a boat “S/Y Free Willy moored in Gandia. He realised he was no longer safe to sail alone, so he was looking for crew. A very keen DIYer, he’d even managed to install a kitchen into the galley …. and I mean a domestic kitchen.

I first met Ken at the CBYA Christmas lunch at Pepe’s in Jalon, which Brenda Bates organised. After a number of maintenance trips with Ken, and coming as a blow to any boat owner, he realised he could no longer maintain her. “Free Willy” was up for sale, and Ken’s membership of the CBYA ended.

However, I’ve kept in touch with him, and a number of long-standing members may remember him.

Funeral and Cremation at Denia Crematorium was on Wednesday 11 March 2020 at 16:00

RIP Ken.
