The CBYA ran our first charter-cruise trip during September 2018.
It was a great success – mainly due to the excellent planning and organisation by Tanya & Peter.
We chartered two Bavaria 46 yachts from Trogir, near Split, and spent a week cruising around the Dalmatian Islands. We visited Solta, Hvar, Piklini islands, Korčula, Vis, and Brač.
We are sad to report that Tore Naess, a long-time CBYA member, and owner of S/Y Magdulena, died on Wednesday 19 September.
Tore’s health took a dramatic downturn in recent weeks. Investigations discovered prostrate cancer resulting in him starting chemotherapy a few weeks ago, which apparently had a bad effect on him, and he developed serious respiratory problems. He was airlifted from Denia hospital to Elche where he passed away.
His funeral took place on Tuesday 25th September.
Please join me in expressing our condolences to his family.
The CBYA enjoys a special off-season, week day deal with Náutica Corcho in Marina de Dénia which allows us to charter a Jeanneau 39′ for €300, and a Jeanneau 37′ for €250, for the day.
Corcho are willing to extend this offer to any paid-up CBYA member with the appropriate sailing licence (minimum RYA Day Skipper or equivalent).

CBYA members gathered on the Montañar 1 beach, opposite Restaurante Amarre, on Saturday 8th September to celebrate the “Port” fiesta of Virgen de Loreto.
This event symbolises the ‘end of summer’and is traditionally enjoyed by bringing your own tables, chairs, cutlery, drinks, snacks, lights, candles, etc., and setting up on the beach. read more →
Former CBYA-members, Ian and Annie Bullough, have left Spain and moved back to the UK to live Marlborough.
Rosie and Mike Sparshatt-Worley recently met up with them and report that they are on good form.
They send their regards to all in the CBYA who know them.
By popular demand the TOM Ladder competition will restart this Autumn. For those not familiar with the competition, this is a fun series that increases participation, improves sailing and racing skills, encourages all participants to have the opportunity to skipper (not just the approved CBYA skippers), includes all levels of experience, and encourages team work.
