Three members of the CBYA Mezclas 2018 Mirador Challenge team received awards on Monday 16th April during the CBYA social event at the Nau Nau Restaurant at the Club Náutico de Jávea to recognise their excellent achievement in securing a SECOND place finish in the Leisure Section. They only missed first place by ONE point!
Gary Mudge, Richard Rihan & Gary Regan (Team Leader) receiving awards from Chairman, Hugh Epsom. The other two team members, Reinette Crow and Paul Maudsley, were unable to attend.
Several CBYA members were lucky to be able to tour the Vestas VOR yacht in Alicante before the start of the race. We would therefore like Team Vestas 11th Hour Racing to do well in the current Volvo Ocean race.
Since the start of the race, the Vestas team have experienced mixed fortunes – they were involved in a collision with a local fishing boat in Hong Kong waters on Leg 5, and were dismasted in the Southern Ocean during Leg 7.
CBYA member-owned yachts, and their crews, regularly participate on the 5 Clubs Regattas.

The CBYA would like to have more members who own sailing yachts, and who would like to participate in these sailing regattas, as we always have CBYA members who are interested to crew in these events.

The CBYA Mezclas (mixed) team, comprising Gary Regan (Team Leader), Reinette Crow, Paul Maudsley, Gary Mudge and Richard Rihan, secured an excellent SECOND place in the Leisure category in the 2018 Mirador Challenge, a tough 29 km fast walk around Javea to visit all fifteen miradors (look-out points).
