Spring Series 5 Clubs – Calpe, 22 May 2017

Light winds dominated over the weekend as our home club, Reale Club Nautico Calpe, hosted the last race in this Spring Series. The club overlaid the weekend with its own Rumbo Solidario Regatta, planning four windward / leeward races on Saturday and Sunday. Over 45 people attended the second 2017 CBYA presentation in Javea which was “A Greek Oddity” given by Richard Jones at the Javea Players Studio Theatre in Javea on Monday 22 May.
Charity Presentation by CBYA Mirador Challenge 2017 Teams

The 2017 CBYA Mirador Challenge teams managed to raise €1300 in sponsorship money for charity this year!
Since training for the Challenge started well before the 2017 CBYA-supported charities were selected at our AGM on 20 March 2017, it was decided to raise money from this event for last year’s CBYA charities – MABS Cancer Support and Make-a-Smile. The money was shared equally by the two charities.

Simply out sailed – out classed. But what a fun event. Our team of ‘weekend warriors’ weren’t at all phased to be mixing it with some of the world’s best sailors, but afraid we didn’t do well. Not making any excuses as we made a few mistakes, but with the ORC rating we were placed in Division 1 where our competitors were typically 40′ or more, meant it was tough mixing it with them over such short courses.
